Building a Culture of Doing

“Spartanburg is a city that doesn't just create goals, but achieves them. Doesn't just house businesses, but advances them. We are doing more because we were raised to do nothing less. That's why Spartanburg is always doing. “ – City of Spartanburg Website

Whether you wanted to open a textile company, craft beer brewery, an art cooperative, organic composting facility, or family restaurant, we have been a community that empowers it. I like to think of Spartanburg as a perfect playground. There’s always someone to play with- to balance you out on the see-saw, give a gentle push on the swing, be superheroes, and there’s always a new toy that makes you want to keep going back.

I recently spoke with someone who was downhearted and didn’t know which way to go. They had a 9-5 job that paid enough but wasn’t satisfying their desire to be more. This person said that they had the mind of an inventor, ability to be the next Tony Stark. They just didn’t know how to get started. I was taken aback by how their entire demeanor and body language shifted once they started talking about their passion and it was a side I hadn’t seen before. I shared three different resources to help them get started, but was also frustrated by the lack of general awareness. So, I’m here today to spread the good word and let you know that help is there if you’re ready to start your own adventure down the path to creation.
