In Spartanburg, we get to enjoy all four seasons!  Our Spring seasons are the best because of the unlimited activities we have here.  SYP has compiled a top ten list of ways to explore Spartanburg in-depth this Spring:

  1. Go take a walk or hike at one of our tracks and trails located at the Cottonwood Trail, Glendale Shoals, Wadsworth TrailHatcher Gardens, Croft State Park, or even take a walk downtown to visit the Spartanburg Music Trail or ArtWalk (every third Thursday)!  You can even take it a step further by buying a B-Cycle membership (or bringing your own bike or two feet) and enjoying a ride, walk, jog or run at the Mary Black Rail Trail.  After enjoying the Rail Trail, be sure to stop by the I Scream U Scream trolley, Union Street Coffee Bar, or the Little River Roasting facility to cool off with a cold and delicious beverage and treat.

  2. Attend or even volunteer at one of our many Spring events!  Our main Spring events include the Criterium, Spring Fling, Hub City Hog Fest, Spartanburg Soaring, and Shenanigans on the Square.  We also have several mile walks and fun runs, or you can put your carpentry or landscaping skills to use (or build some) while volunteering for Habitat for Humanity or Christmas in Action!

  3. Have a seat outside and enjoy a coffee at the Little River Coffee Bar (and coming soon: Spill the Beans) or one of Spartanburg's awesome dining establishments like Delaney's (with new outdoor seating coming), Wild Wing Cafe, Monsoon Noodle House, Main Street Pub, Cribb's Kitchen, Miyako Sushi Group, Pokenori, Lemongrass Kitchen, Brickhouse Fresh Pizzeria & Grill, and newcomers FR8yard, Level 10, and Bar 1884.  Then enjoy an ice cream at Hub City Scoops, Abbott's Frozen Custard, and coming soon Spill the Beans.

  4. Enjoy Drayton Mills Marketplace with dinner and drinks outside at The Standard or Pi-Squared Pizza, then enjoy some coffee and dessert at Bella Latte at Mozza Roasters.  Want to take it a step further?  Burn Boot Camp also has a location next to Bella Latte - don't forget to bring your workout gear!

  5. Play mini-golf at Sparkle City Mini Putt, then enjoy some beer, coffee, food, or go shopping at our participating establishments including Paisley Paw, The Local Hiker, Little River Coffee Bar, and Growler Haus!

  6. Take a walk, throw a football or Frisbee, or bring a kite on a windy day and enjoy the amenities at Milliken, Cleveland Park, Barnet Park, or Duncan Park, then follow it up with a picnic.  Milliken also has a new disc golf course debuting soon if you enjoy that.  Disc golf courses can also be found at USC Upstate, Michelin Spartanburg, Upward Star Center in Wellford, and at parks in East Spartanburg (Edwin M. Griffin Nature Preserve), Boiling Springs, Woodruff, Roebuck, Inman, Reidville/Duncan, and you can grab some extra discs at The Local Hiker or Play it Again Sports.

  7. Take in a high school, college, or minor league baseball or softball game.  Or become a participant in the action and join a league or find a fun run or walk of your choice!  We have several which happen during the Spring, including one of the largest Relay for Life events in the county at USC Upstate every May.

  8. Raining? Go catch a movie at one of our four theaters, a stage performance at Chapman Cultural Center, browse some art galleries, check into Hub City Bookshop or a branch of Spartanburg County Public Libraries and indulge in some good books, or go bowling at Paradise Lanes or Star Lanes!

  9. Visit the Hub City Farmer's Market every Saturday morning for fresh, local produce as well as samples, demonstrations, and some live music.  Also if you're a bargain hunter, check out The Spartanburg Flea Market and The Barnyard Flea Market every Saturday and Sunday morning (we also have some great yard and garage sales throughout the county)!

  10. Go visit one of our awesome lakes and rivers for some fishing – or check out an awesome kayak demo! If you own a kayak/canoe/paddleboard, you can also bring your own.  Spend the night camping if allowed and you want. Better yet – participate in a kayaking/rafting competition if you dare!

These are just SOME great things to go enjoy as we spring forward into the next part of 2018.  These are also great ways for young professionals and others to end their work days and start the weekend!  Go take advantage this Spring!
